Neglect

Neglect

Wow!  I have neglected this blog.  Life has been happening at an amazing pace.

Let’s see, a quick overview since Thanksgiving…   Christmas, school break, end of basketball season for theBoy, beginning of Girls On The Run for smileyGirl, Easter, spring break, completion of GOTR for smileyGirl, GOTR 5K walk/run for dearHusband and smileyGirl and littleFoot, 3rd grade field trip to Springfield for smileyGirl, tallGirl doing her thing (including a second part time job and some efforts toward going to college in the fall), littleFoot nearly done with 1st grade.  And theBoy is currently on the fresh/soph CHS baseball team.  The magPies will each be playing softball this summer.  Practices are underway with games starting next week.  And that isn’t an exhaustive list, so you can see how amazingly quick paced things have been.

We also have had opportunity to spend a little more time with trainerHayley and her beau.  Our Gaby still gets so excited when her favorite trainerHayley pays a visit.

We have attempted to get in some more trips downHome to see my folks — of course not as many as we wish, but at least some.  And they have made trips to see a couple of theBoy’s games which are long days for them, but great visits.

My dearHusband’s mom took a trip out east to see some of her other grandkids and their parents.  They all had a great time.  Speaking of dearHusband, his birthday is coming up quickly.  After that the last birthday to go in our immediate family is tallGirl in July.

Looking ahead, it’s going to be a busy summer, so don’t expect a lot of updates here.  My dearHusband will be coming along on a trip to a user’s conference for work in mid-July.  We have each set a new goal, to take off, throw away, dispose of, 20 more pounds apiece by that trip.  And we’re doing some clutter-busting at home, too, so be on the lookout for opportunities to acquire books or clothes or miscellaneous items (probably via facebook, not here).

Happy May!!!

Wow, it’s nearly Thanksgiving

Wow, it’s nearly Thanksgiving

I have been neglectful of this page.  We’ve been busy.  Jonah is on the freshman basketball team.  Shekinah and Karah are both going to their last Little Shots basketball programs tomorrow and Jonah will help the coaches out.  Then Jonah will go over to Trojan Hill to take in the State Semifinal game between Charleston and Rochester.

Mike is in the KC Summers Slimdown contest.  Mike is doing great in the contest.  He’s looking and feeling great.  And while he’s been laser focused for the contest, I’ve made changes too.  And I’m down 25 pounds in 7 weeks and feeling better.  I’m laughing and smiling more consistently than I have in some time.  I haven’t been this weight for around 8 years.  It’s amazing.

Enough for now.  Good night.

50 Years Ago today…

50 Years Ago today…

Today is my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary.  I’ve seen the pictures of the celebration and I’ve watched lots of days of living.  And today I’m extra thankful, for two people who have loved each other day in and day out, through great, exciting moments, and hard, challenging moments.  I have watched as each have lost siblings and parents and life and love go on.  They are the ones who have demonstrated that love is so much more than lust, passion and attraction.  It is a common commitment to a common goal, a life shared for better or worse and richer or poorer and in sickness and in health.  Day by day they have just tried.  And day by day have built upon the legacy of the ones who went before.  The legacy my husband and I and my sister and her husband have the privilege to build on.  And over time the six grandchildren will add their own flavor, too.

Thanks Mom and Dad, for so much, but this time for just living life day to day right in front of us.
